In 1965, the original focus for Weiss Industrial (formerly Weiss Instrument) was to supply electronic controls in a territory dominated by smoke stack industries. In our history, the markets have changed, and technologies have evolved. Weiss now provides smart instrumentation, digital controls, plant-wide automation systems and critical power protection solutions for a much broader base of customers distributed over a wider geography. An ever-increasing percentage of our revenues are derived from solutions that are being deployed around the globe.
Weiss Industrial was formed in 1965 by Elek K. Weiss as an Engineering Representative firm. In the early years, the purpose of the business was to provide instrumentation and control systems to the industrial and research laboratory markets in western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Operating as a one-man business for eighteen years, Elek Weiss established a fine reputation for integrity and reliability, representing five or six companies at any one time. In 1983, five new people were added to support the growing business and its first acquisition. In 1992, with the retirement of the founder, Robert E. Jones became the President of Weiss Industrial.
Over the years, continued business expansion has added to the inside and outside sales staff, to the clerical staff, and to the customer support staff. In 2012, the business was restructured as a limited liability corporation, jointly-owned by Weiss management and by a private equity affiliate. The company’s registered name is Weiss Acquisition, LLC dba Weiss Industrial. Weiss Industrial’s headquarters is in Pittsburgh, PA.
On January 22, 2018 Weiss Industrial had a transformative event: it was purchased by Tony Luciana. Today, Weiss employs twenty (20) folks, supporting clients and manufacturers throughout ten states (Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia).
With new ownership, new goals, and renewed vigor, Tony, and its experienced supporting management team, are confident to not only meet their goals, but greatly surpass them.
