Achieving and maximising ROI from MDF programs while minimising the associated challenges should be the ultimate objective for any channel marketer but how exactly is this achieved?

This session explored this and tried to identify the typical roadblocks faced by the delegates in pursuit of this goal.

Many admitted that although they could plot revenue growth, drilling down to measure the ROI of any specific program was just too hard.
It was also admitted that the allocation of MDF to partners was largely based on revenue or perhaps on other KPI’s but rarely with a truly objective assessment of marketing plans submitted.
There was a preference for co-funded MDF where partners matched funding so that there was “skin in the game”.
GDPR has had an influence on MDF allocation in terms of the ability share leads, and then Covid has shifted MDF usage as well with the move away from jointly funded events.
It was generally agreed that delegates had a similar set of challenges in tracking and attributing growth to any specific MDF or program – questions to the wider audience later reflected a similar challenge throughout.
