The cultural elements along the top are key to this approach, as the work, based around solving a business problem captured in a Problem Statement, is done by small (generally no more than 8 people) teams of multi-skilled engineers who are self managing (ie they decided how to approach the problem, what tools to use etc) and are comfortable experimenting, prototyping and iterating, learning from any failures as they progress. For this approach to work, visible and active senior sponsorship within the client is vital.
