The Cisco SD-WAN play is for network managers and operators with distributed Enterprise networks who want to take back control of WAN decisions, are looking for agility and/or more efficient use of their IT expenditure.
They want WAN architecture that is built for cloud-first Enterprises, offering the benefits of direct Internet-attached circuits for cloud services, and branch installation and setup.
Cisco SD-WAN will unlock the potential of the network by leveraging pure-play and Cisco ISR and ASR platforms and Meraki SD-WAN capabilities, to fit any customer’s needs.
Cisco SD-WAN automates provisioning of new branch locations and network services in minutes instead of months, simplifies policy management across all remote sites, and enforces multilayer security for a hybrid infrastructure.
It provides complete connectivity, including management, orchestration, and security layers to unlock the power of the network, resulting in faster application delivery over any connection, on any platform at lower cost – offering the best user experience. It also reduces management overheads, including legacy OpEx spending, and increases security. By contrast, dedicated private WANs offered by competitors have expensive recurring costs, premium bandwidth charges, and limited functionality, security or application optimization.

Customer has heard of SD-WAN as a market trend and wants to deploy secure transport, application aware WAN policies for active-active WAN link usage.
Customer has provisioned for ISR 4K/IWAN budget (~$300,000).
Connectivity – all branches are connected over MPLS 10 Mbps for primary circuits and 3G/4G/DSL for secondary circuits (using Internet Protocol security tunnels to secure them).
